Fellow Parishioners,
An annual review of trees by Jesse Mudge of Nola Trees Solutions has brought an immediate and pressing safety concern to light for our property. The beloved tree that adorns our Church has significant stress fractures at its base which is evidence of structural damage that cannot be repaired. Although the tree has the appearance of being healthy, to the knowledge of an expert, such is not the case. In fact, it is almost miraculous that it has withstood another storm.
We are presented with the imperative need to remove the tree before damage occurs to our Church or Parishioners. Fr. Kyle called for an emergency joint meeting of his Pastoral and Finance Councils for consultation regarding the decision at hand. All agreed not to delay the removal of the tree and have asked for work to begin on Monday.
Mr. Mudge also provided a plan to return the remaining trees to the best health possible so that our property is beautified and made as safe as is humanly possible. The members of the Pastoral and Finance Councils have endorsed this work as well.
Thanks for your understanding.
God love you,
Fr. Kyle Dave +
The Heavenly Chorus of OLPH will be resuming rehearsals on Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the church. If you enjoy singing at Mass, consider joining the choir. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings, the choir sings at 10:30 Mass on Sundays and also at other liturgies throughout the church year. During Covid, Baptisms were celebrated individually after weekend Masses for the safety of the infants and their families. For this reason, and the necessity to disinfect the Church after the 8:00 a.m Sunday Mass, the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass time was changed to 11:00 a.m. We have made the decision to return celebrating Baptisms during Mass in order for the Church Community to witness and be a part of this special Sacrament. With that being said, beginning Sunday, July 7th, we will resume Sunday Mass time at 10:30 a.m. (in lieu of 11:00 a.m. Mass). Further, Baptisms will again be a part of Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month during the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

It has come to our attention that there was a minor issue with the posting of contributions to OLPH Church in August of 2023. This caused some of our tax contribution letters to be incorrect. If you believe that you were affected, and need an updated copy for your records, please contact the church office.
In order to give people who work an opportunity to attend Daily Mass during Lent, starting Thursday, February 15th, we will begin Daily Mass at 7:00 AM, excluding Wednesdays and Saturdays. We will continue to have Mass at 8:30AM on Wednesdays for our OLPH students as well as 7:30 AM on Saturday mornings. All other Mass times will stay the same.

Our Pastoral and Finance Councils met on Thursday, July 20, 2023, to discuss a possible opportunity for our Parish. Fr. Maestri is a native New Orleanian, but is currently living in California. He has expressed a desire to come home. With this desired move, he has asked if he can be of priestly service to our parish. In Fr. Maestri’s previous work in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, he has had to make several tough announcements-including the closing of schools and churches. This has caused some hard feelings against Fr. Maestri. Fr. Maestri was in attendance at the meeting and addressed issues from this time period. The Altar Society would like to thank the congregation for their generous support of our flower fund. Without your help, we could not keep fresh flowers in the church every week. Our bake sales help pay for candles, banners and other accoutrements used in church that we pay for. We appreciate all of your support. Thank You
